Ability has committed to be Disability Confident

Ability Housing Association has joined the nationally accredited Disability Confident Employer scheme and is at level 1 and working hard towards level 2 over the next two years.
The scheme was started in 2016 to help employers recruit disabled people get into work and to support them in the workplace and includes a number of possible commitments including:
- inclusive and accessible recruitment
- communicating vacancies
- offering an interview to disabled people
- providing reasonable adjustments
- supporting existing employees
And selected actions including:
- work experience
- work trials
- paid employment
- apprenticeships
- job shadowing
- traineeships
- internships
- student placements
- sector-based work academy placements
