"... a Culture of Support and Leadership"
Michael Jennings, the Investors in People assessor visited Ability in January 2007 to carry out his third assessment of the Association. He interviewed 26 members of staff – all of whom he found inspiring.
Below are some of the relevant highlights of his report and you can click the link below to see the full text of the 2007 IIP report:
“The one thing that stood out above everything was the enthusiasm and commitment of everyone to the prevailing culture of support and leadership … and the very high level of genuine consultation and listening ...”“
“There is a systematic yet responsive approach to helping people develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to deliver the Association’s aims. I have no doubt that the processes in place to support people’s development will be strong enough to cope as and when Ability does expand to be the First Choice employer in the sector.”
“A lot has been done to encourage a culture where people want to and are able to put their ideas forward to improve the performance of the Association. People said how they had been encouraged to have a go at taking on greater responsibilities before having to commit themselves.“
"The revised appraisal scheme recognises and rewards people in terms of both their contributions and achievement of key targets and objectives. In addition, people’s efforts are celebrated in the Newsletters, through internal promotions and regular ‘thank yous’.
