The Q-Team tops the awards at the CSI awards

Ability’s Q-Team swept the board to win ‘Excellence in tenant inspection and mystery shopping’, at the Customer Scrutiny Inspection (CSI) Awards in Manchester on 27 October.
Our entry so impressed the judges that it was the only one to make the shortlist, with the Chair of the judging committee, Linda Levin, describing it as “overwhelmingly excellent”.
To our surprise and delight, the judges also gave Ability a highly commended award in the category of ‘Excellence in communication’ – a category we hadn’t entered – after reading about how we trained staff to use Makaton, following a Q-Team recommendation.
The judges agreed our Q-Team is unique because members need a bit of extra support to help them be more independent. They liked how much face-to-face time the team spends with customers – even though it means a fair bit of travelling. They also saw that the visits lead to lots of good, practical changes that make a real difference to customers.
Accepting both awards on Ability’s behalf, Q-Team member Carron Cleversley said it was a privilege to be part of the team and that she was very happy to be an Ability customer.
Ability’s CEO, Jeff Skipp said: “We’re proud of the Q-Team and delighted to see their work recognised with these awards. At Ability, we focus on ability not disability and we see the Q-Team as a great example of our values working in practice.
“Ability benefits enormously from the extremely rich feedback we get from customers, while our Q-Team members make new relationships, learn important new skills and gain in confidence.”
